aside

Ugliness is the 21st Century art. We practice and hone it, filling in hours online to make up for what we did not apply in person. Under the anonymity of ugliness, the perfect reply. An ingenious response. Ugliness outdoing ugliness. And we become sharp and witty and quick and skillful. But there’s nothing unique about ugliness. It is so common it’s become faceless, anonymous even — forgotten. No one will remember you for it. But beauty in relationships, especially anonymous ones, is rare. It is uncommon, has a memory. It will outlast you.

You remember a face that strikes you.  The same is true with a Christian.
